it’s that time again

My sister, niece, and brother-in-law are going to Myrtle Beach again, so I’m housesitting again. The first time I did it, a few years back, I lost their dog (NOT MY FAULT! really). Last year, she had a ton of horses that I had to feed all kinds of varied supplements in the morning before work.

This time, I’m hoping it goes a bit better. There’re always lots of photo ops when I’m staying there (these photos were taken during House Sit ’07). I might have to head to Lake Michigan again.

I went to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers last month. This is my favorite picture from the night.

One of these days I’ll have to get my camera with the better zoom fixed…

This building has more character than most of the monuments around DC.

DC World War Monument

This is one of my favorite photos from a recent visit to Washington, D.C. It’s a little dark, but I’m not yet learned in changing levels and all that bs (one of these days I’ll get over my bias and let myself retouch my photos), so this is what you get.

This is the District of Columbia World War Memorial (for soldiers from DC who served in WWI). It’s a bit of a “forgotten” monument off to the side of the Capitol Mall. Not many people were around it – none were there until I was hanging around for a few minutes, then the few people who did come by just walked kinda quickly past and didn’t spend much time there. It’s fabulous, partly because it’s allowed to look like it’s a WWI memorial – it’s not all polished and gleaming. It’s been allowed to have some character. I love it. I want to go back and sit there for a long time.
