And now it’s actual Memorial Day, instead of the governmental vacation-like version of it from this past Monday. I never forget when Memorial Day is because it is also my mother’s birthday. (Hi, Mom! I love you! Happy Birthday!)

I applied to adopt a soldier today at AdoptaPlatoon. I hope I’m accepted – I don’t know why I wouldn’t be, but I get nervous about these things, you know? I’m more than a bit ashamed it’s taken me this long to get off my ass and participate in one of these campaigns. Thank God we have a holiday to sit and reflect and make lazy people like me realize that even though we don’t take their Sacrifices for granted, we can’t afford to be quiet about our appreciation.
